Ling Xiaoyu – Frame Data

Ling Xiaoyu dances around her opponent's feet with stance transitions and quick pokes, crushing highs and evading mids to make you second-guess every input at close range. A specialist character, she's at her best when stealing rounds from impatient opponents — and a fearsome 50/50 monster at the wall in Heat.

Overview

Evasive stance mixups and dangerous setups; short range and complex stance management.

Heat System

In Heat, Xiaoyu gains extra string extensions (H.f,f+1,2, H.f+2,1,2) for plus frames, mix-ups, and damage. She also skips the first of Hypnotist's three steps (ub+1+2 or db+1+2), making her stance 50/50s hit faster and deadlier.

Strengths

Evasion and high crushing: use d+1+2, AOP.d, BT side step, BT.f+3+4,3+4, and df+1 to slip under highs and evade mids.Great 50/50 from Hypnotist stance, especially in Heat.Wall pressure in Heat: generate plus frames, mix-ups, and chip damage.Movement: dance around opponents and force them to second-guess their range-zero and range-one inputs.

Weaknesses & Counterplay

Short range: little arms and legs struggle to reach backdashing opponents.Hard time opening up defensive players when not in Heat.No fast counter-hit tools in neutral.
Game Plan
Use AOP (d+1+2) to crush highs and evade mids, forcing opponents to second-guess their offense.Work in BT via transitions; use BT's enhanced sidestep and Cali Roll (BT.f+3+4,3+4) to slip away and whiff punish.Enter Hypnotist after hits or a successful punch parry (ub+1+2) and threaten HYP.3 vs HYP.2.In Heat, press with HYP 50/50s and string extensions; if you can put them at the wall, go for plus-frame pressure and chip damage.
Stances
Phoenix (AOP) — enter: Input d+1+2, or enter from fff+3 / ff+1,D. — Evade highs and many mids; be aware you cannot block in this stance.Raindance / back turned (RDS/BT) — enter: Enter with b+3+4, or transition after attacks on hit or block. — Use BT's evasive movement, Lily sidestep, and Cali Roll (BT.f+3+4,3+4) to crush highs, evade mids, or slip away for whiff punishes.Hypnotist (HYP) — enter: Enter with db+1+2, after attacks on hit/block, or after a successful punch parry (ub+1+2). — Main 50/50 stance: threaten HYP.3 low and HYP.2 mid HE; both hit harder as you take more steps, and Heat skips the first step.
