Eddy Gordo – Frame Data

Eddy is a stance-heavy mixup character with high damage output and strong punishment, built around forcing risky, high-reward 50/50s like RLX 3,3 and RLX 4,3. He is easy to pick up and find quick success with, but becomes harder to win with as opponents tighten their defense.

Overview

Evasive stance mixups and mid-range reach; prepared defenders complicate consistency.

Heat System

Activating Heat grants Eddy one stack of his Mandinga install, which enhances his stances. His heat moves—H.QCF+4 (high, evasive, +7 on block, forces an RLX mixup) and H.3+4 (mid, high crush, +5, launches into Handstand on normal hit)—are both offensive pressure tools.

Strengths

Low/Mid Mixup: Great 50/50 threat from RLX and Handstand, especially with Mandinga installed.Evasiveness: Constant movement and evasive hurtboxes make him hard to read and bait whiffs.Mid Selection: Solid mids like B+2 and B+3 are hit-confirmable or counter-hit launchers, giving reliable damage.Keepout & Whiff Punishment: DF+3 and SS 3+4 deliver strong punishment from range.

Weaknesses & Counterplay

Movement Vulnerability: Good sidestepping (opponent SWR/SSR) can shut down his stance pressure.Committed Lows: Key lows like D3, FF3, and DB3 are highly committal, with DB3 being -14.
Game Plan
Force 50/50s from RLX using the RLX 3,3 low and RLX 4,3 mid, especially after heat engages or wallsplats.Use DF+3 and SS 3+4 to punish whiffed attacks from range.Confirm B2 on hit and B3 on counter-hit to convert into damage safely. When Mandinga is active, use Handstand mixups more aggressively—its auto low parry lets you punish low attempts.Play around your lack of i10 punish by avoiding situations where a jab punish is required.
Stances
Handstand (HSP) — enter: Manually with F3+4, or through f,f,f+3, H.3+4, and fcdf+4. — A 50/50 stance that is weaker than RLX unless Mandinga is active, then it becomes much stronger. You cannot block mids or highs, but Mandinga grants an auto low parry. It has many strings like HSP 4,2, HSP 2,3, and the infamous HSP 3,3,3.Relax (RLX) — enter: Manually with D3+4, or via FF3, FCDF3, WS3+4, and H.QCF4. — Your main 50/50 stance. In RLX you are in a crouch state, so you avoid highs. It gives you the powerful hellsweep low RLX 3,3 and the damaging mid RLX 4,3, which also heat-engages and wallsplats.
